Varekai means “Wherever” in the nomadic Romani language. I built this house to bridge the conflicting desires to wander and to settle. I just didn’t think I would wander to and settle in Australia when I built it.
This charming home was lovingly built in Olympia, Washington. An abundance of windows lets the outdoors in, fills the house with warm light, and creates ample ventilation. This home can comfortably house two adults.
Featuring an adaptable open living space that can range from cozy lounge room to professional office space. It currently comes with a custom built storage bench couch and two custom corner cabinets.
The kitchen is suitable even for ambitious cooks. It has ample storage including a pantry, a cupboard, and deep shelving. There is a nearly full sized propane stove/oven, a spacious sink, a mid-sized fridge, and a multi-use tuckaway table.
The bathroom features a converted commercial kitchen sink as a shower basin (a bath is possible, but it’s not huge), with two shower heads. Option for either a composting or traditional toilet. toilet. There is plenty of shelving for toiletries, and a quiet but powerful fan provides great ventilation.
The loft can fit a queen sized mattress with room to spare and comfortably sleeps two people. It has two gorgeous skylights great for lying under meteor showers and rainstorms.
