The Vardo has a small, lightweight footprint that feels very roomy inside (the arched roof and angled walls give plenty of height and elbow room).
Insulation in walls, floor and ceiling keep it cool in Summer and warm in Winter.
Exterior walls are 1/4" birch marine grade plywood with cedar trim over 2x2 framing containing Insulfoam panels in all cavities. The interior is 5/16" pine beadboard plywood, 3/4" pine appearance boards, cedar trim, aromatic cedar roof arch. The roof is sealed with Superflex Rubber Roofing Membrane (resistant to UV light, mold, algae, and fungus) - Not EPDM. Windows and doors are restored vintage wood with Lexan inserts and vast iron casement stays. Floors are an embossed wood plank water-resistant laminate.
Off grid electrical is provided by a 12v marine storage battery charged with a Renology solar panel and Wanderer 10a charge controller. Several 5v/2a USB charge ports come off the 12v system as well as a standard cigarette socket port. Lighting is provided by four warm white LED fixtures. There is a separate 110v input port with 4 110v outlets and 2 5v/2a USB charge ports. A 5 lb externally mounted refillable propane tank fuels a Stansport 2 burner propane stovetop (5300 BTU) with oven (3500 BTU). Water is provided by two seven gallon jugs mounted on the tongue.
Floor space is 34 sq ft with a usable space is 49 sq ft over the step. There is 6.5 ft of vertical headroom inside. The loft bed is a full XL size mattress (54" x 80"). The dining table is an up-cyled sign board that slides under the bed for storage.
